Welcome!
On
behalf of the Prince William County Basketball Committee, I would like to
welcome all of the participants and supporters to the Boys 16 and Under,
“Division II” District Championship, May 2-4, 2008.
To make this weekend enjoyable for everyone, please ensure that all
participants in this event are familiar with the Virginia AAU rules and
regulations regarding tournaments. The rules and regulations are published in
the current Virginia Association AAU Basketball Handbook (http://www.vaaaubb.net./08_handbook.pdf).
Tournament Bracket:
I have attached the tournament bracket. I
will notify the head coach if there are any changes in the schedule for your
team. You can also check our website
(www.pwaau.com) periodically for any
changes to the bracket.
The top teams will advance to the AAU National Championship.
Team
Check-in: Coaches and
players must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to their first game, at the
location of their first game with the site director at the school. The head
coach must have copies of player’s birth certificates at the tournament as
well as age/grade exception forms.
Bench
Decorum: All non-uniformed persons on the bench shall wear slacks (no sweat
pants, jeans, warm-ups or athletic pants), shirts with collars and sleeves and
dress shoes or tennis shoes during play at all Virginia Association
tournaments. Shorts, jeans sweat pants, tee shirts, hats and open-toed shoes
are not permitted. Bench decorum will be strictly enforced.
Security: For safety and enjoyment we have arranged to have security available
at each venue.
Admission: Admission ticket prices for the weekend tournament pass are $12
for adults and $8 for students ('students' shall mean 18 and under). Daily
entrance tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students. Admission for children
6 and under is free.
Please ensure
that your teams and parents are aware of the rules for each venue, many
of the Middle Schools DO NOT allow food and drinks (other than 100%
water) into the building.
Gyms and Hotels: You will find the names and addresses to the various gyms
and hotels in the Prince William area on our
website (www.pwaau.com) as well.
