Shoutout for Pacers 16U & 13U (4/20/08)
Congratulations to both the 16U and 13U Pacers for being the Champions in the Cardinal Basketball April Clash this weekend, April 18-20, 2008.
 
The 16U Pacers won all of their games, defeating Cardinal Hardnick, MD Elite and the Knights in pool play; then winning the semifinal to move on the championship game where they defeated a very good team from Philly!!!
 
The 13U Pacers opened on Friday against the host team (Cardinal Harris), were down by six at the half and through teamwork, patience and defensive lockdown won by nine.  This defensive exodus continued on Saturday where in a doubleheader they won going away 63-28 and 46-16.   The championship game was one that demonstrated how far this team has come, for they were down by five at the half but not wanting to go home as the second best team in this tourney the team showed an attitude that we hope carries over through out the summer.  In a defensive struggle they were able to win 32-31 and walked away as the Champions of the April Clash 2008. Going 4-0 in this tournament is a great way to start preparing for the new season!!
 
Great job and congrats again!!!!!!

Way to go Pacers 15U (4/12/08)
Congratulations to our 15U Pacers Team...They beat the Stafford Magic, Culpeper & Stafford Magic again in the Championship game to earn the Virginia District Division II Northern Regional AAU Title. Their play has earned them the right to play in the national qualifier, Virginia District Division II AAU State Championship, May 2-4, 2008 in Broadway, Virginia.  Great job and good luck!!!!

Way to go Pacers 14U (4/07/08) 
Congratulations to the Prince William Pacers 14U Team for placing 4th in the 2008 Virginia District "Division I" AAU Championship this weekend and earning a bid to the National Championship in Orlando, Florida, August 1-8, 2008.
 
This team has battled injury (get well Jay!!!...reinjuried his knee in the first game this weekend) and adversity by losing some key players to another organization this season, but was able to pick up a few players to help us secure this bid...
 
With 14 teams in the tournament, we were able to defeat the BW Tidewater Select, lose a heartbreaker in overtime by 2 pts in the closing seconds to the eventual 2nd place team (VA Panthers) and beat another PW County team (Blacktop Sports) to advance to the final four game.  In the final four contest, we were not able to overcome an early outburst of easy conversions by the Petersburg Elite team in the first quarter and struggle to get our offense going during a very physical battle were very few fouls got called.  We did outscore Petersburg Elite the remaining quarters, but it still was not enough to pull out a victory... leaving us with the 4th Place plaque and medals!!
 
As we continue to gel and work on individual and team concepts/skills, I'm sure this team will be able to do well in representing the County and Virginia at the National level!!
 
Again, congrat's and I'm proud of the heart we displayed...proving that we can compete with any team that comes in our path!!!

P.S.  Special thanks to the 14U Parents for your outstanding support for this team and additional THANKS to everyone (Pacers teams, parents, family and friends) that helped run this tournament!!  Coach Johnson (11U); Coach Muhammad (15U); and Coach Wanzer (17U) thanks for stepping in and helping me run the five different sites!!!  Outstanding team effort and we can't get it done with out you!! 

Way to go Virginians U11 / U12 / U13 (3/29/08) 
The Virginians U11 Team, the only all girls team in the Dumfries Boys and Girls Club league won the U11 championship last Saturday. 

The Virginians U12 and U13 teams both won their age groups in a YBOA championship tournament on Sunday. 

The U11s and U12s play in the Virginia District AAU Division 1 Championships this weekend in Richmond as guest of the James River Blaze. 

 Go Virginians!!!  

U9 Pacer Boys are Awesome (3/29/08)  
Congratulations to the U9 Boys for their 1st place tournament win!!!

After much hard work and dedication, the Prince William Pacers 9 & Under boys team celebrated this weekend after coming in first place at the Cardinals AAU Pre-Regional Qualifier Tournament in Alexandria, Virginia. 

Congrats to 14U Pacers  (1/21/07) 
Congrats to the 14U Pacers for their 3rd place (16 teams in age group) finish in the Philly's Finest (#2 Team in the Nation) Annual Martin L. King Jr. Tournament this weekend (Jan 19-20, 2008).  This team is proving it is really getting better as it headed to Philly with only nine players (Darius, Jay, Mo, Nick, TJ, Amonte, Quan, Kyle and Mike) and still was a force to be reckoned with even though missing some normal starters (Ivan, Cee and Jamal) and key role player (KJ).  The team went 3-1 for the weekend defeating the Jersey City Boys and Girls Club, Jersey Extreme and Boston M.Y.T.W before falling to the Central Jersey Hawks (2006 & 2007 Jersey State Champs). 

Congrats to 14U Pacers  (12/1/07) 
Congratulations to the PW Pacers 14U Team!!!!  They are off to a great start winning the first tournament of the 2007-2008 season.  Facing some good competition (Trinity School, Ballers Inc., LA Hawks, and Cardinal Basketball) during the 2007 Bishop O'Connell Youth Tournament (invitation only for elite teams in the DC, VA, MD area), the team had to work extremely hard as they went 4-0 for the weekend bringing home the Championship trophy!!
